1st round picks 27-29: Ravens finally draft get a lockdown corner

By Dominique Wise on April 29, 2011

Ravens finally get a lockdown corner!

27. Ravens select Colorado’s CB Jimmy Smith:

Analysis: The Ravens made no secret in who they were targeting and going to draft. Jimmy smith is a big physical corner who can shut down any teams best WR. The only knock on Smith is that he has a lot of off-field issues and has trouble staying out of trouble, but Ray Lewis won’t allow trouble or disturbances in his locker room.

28. Saints select Alabama’s RB Mark Ingram:

Analysis:  The Saints made a trade and gave a up a 2012 first round pick to get a future franchise running back in Mark Ingram. Ingram is powerful running back who can break through multiple tackles and run over defenders.

29. Bears select Wisconsin’s OT Gabe Carimi:

Analysis: The Bears offensive line struggled mightily last season to protect QB Jay Cutler. The running game could have been a lot better if the tackles could have open some holes for Forte. Carimi is great pick for the Bears. He is a mauler and loves to pancake defenders. Carimi should start on opening day for the Bears. Good pick Bears!
