Are Players Holding Up the Deal?

By Rudy Haynesworth on July 20, 2011

Vincent Jackson, Logan Mankins, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees have all been named as plantiffs against the NFL in the lawsuit that was filed early into this 128 day lockout.  The 10 players named in the Brady vs. the NFL lawsuit wouldn’t be additionally compensated if an agreement is reached today between players and owners.   Reports have disgruntled Chargers wide receiver Jackson demanding to be paid $10 million in damages unless he can become an unrestricted free agent.  You may remember he held out last year and was welcoming a trade out of San Diego.

He and Brees have denied claims that there are any such demands that would delay the approval of the new CBA.  VJack said on Twitter, “Can’t believe all u read or see in media.. I want to play ball like the rest of my peers.”  The players are set to vote today and the owners tomorrow.  It is truly hard to believe that there would actually be players that would try to delay the league business taking place because of indiviual issues.  There are 1900 players in the NFL and I’m sure there all ready to get this behind them.
