Browns trade with Oakland

By Rudy Haynesworth on March 28, 2010

The Browns have had a very interesting offseason.  In the latest of a cleaning house they have traded away former first round outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to the Raiders after four seasons with Cleveland.  He had 26.5 sacks in his 63 games for the Browns, but personally I thought he would always be better as an end in a 4-3 defense.  Now he will get his chance for Oakland who gave up a 3rd round pick in 2010 for Wimbley.

The Browns have now parted ways with a long list of former 1st round picks starting with Tim Couch since they came back into the league in 2001.  QB Brady Qinn, TE Kellen Winslow, WR Braylon Edwards, DT Gerard Warren, DE Courtney Brown, and RB William Green are all examples of player that left Cleveland under the same circumstances.

For the Raiders the trade should improve an Oakland front 7 that had about 30 sacks last season.  It will also be interesting to see how this move made in early March will effect who Cleveland drafts at 7 and Oakland at 8.
