QB: The Dolphins have finally solidified the quarterback position. They have three quarterbacks on their roster that can contribute to the team winning games. Starter Chad Henne showed signs of being able to lead the fins behind center. Chad Pennington is a capable backup that just resigned for two years and Pat White is a very versatile player. With the Dolphins running the Wildcat package White may get on the field more splitting snaps with Henne.
RB: Ricky Williams is a very good NFL running back. But, the NFL is a two back league. With Ronnie Brown getting a DUI recently and his future playing for the Dolphins looking to be in jeaporady, they do not have anyone to spell Williams. Ricky is aging and look for them to draft RB somewhere in the first 3 rounds.
WR/ TE: Davone Bess led the team in receptions with 76. Ted Ginn Jr. doesn’t look like he will ever be the polished reciever the Dolphins hoped he might be when they drafted him #7 overall a few years ago. With that said they will need to addressthe wideout position to add to Hartline, Ginn, and Bess. At TE is where I think the Dolphins possibly need the most offensive help. With the Dolphins power offense a big play TE could move the safeties out the box. Anthony Fasano led all TEs with 31 receptions.
OL: The Dolphins line is anchored by left tackle Jake Long. The former Michigan first overall pick three years ago is considered to be one of the best young tackles in the league. The gaurd position is definitely one the Dolphins would like to improve through the draft. They have reported interest in Idaho gaurd Mike Iupati who appears to be a 1st early 2nd round talent.
DL: The Dolphins are in need of defensivfe tackle help. Jason Ferguson is suspended, I believe 4 games, for PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) and Randy Starks would be their starter at the tackle spot. The Dolphins are young in the front seven overall now with the departures of Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. So good play from younsters like end Phillip Merling and Starks would help.
LB: The Dolphins have a lot of questions overall at the linebacker position. After losing longtime Dolphin Taylor, and Porter to the Cardinals they now lack depth at the position. Channing Crowder is still unproven and now the Dolphins have an obvious vacancy at OLB. Along with TE, and OG this position needs the most scrutinization leading to the draft.
DB: This is a position the Dolphins would actually get a passing grade in. Yeremiah Bell is a solid safety, who led the team in tackles (thats not usually a good thing). Vontae Davis and Will Allen are two young corners that have shown potential. But, the Dolphins are going to need more big plays (turnovers) from their secondary to pull out the close ones next season.
good job
