Favre and McCoy

By Rudy Haynesworth on August 17, 2011

Would Favre be a good coach?

Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.  He is now retired and we should believe that he is not returning to the league.  Colt McCoy is the Browns 2nd year quarterback coming off a rookie season where he threw for 6 TDs with 9 ints.  What do these two have in common?  Both have led a Mike Holmgen style West Coast offense.

So, in the offseason along with McCoy holding offseason team voluntary workouts in Texas during the lockout he also consulted with Favre.  Reports have Colt taking a plane and being picked up by retired quarterback and spending a few days to talk West Coast.  Many wonder if McCoy’s 9-10 1TD preseason opener was a result of the duos meeting.

McCoy completed 135 of his 222 attempts in his rookie season.  Favre had 4 attempts in his.  Of course Favre played 20 years, but there is no doubt that a young player like McCoy can benefit from having the tuteledge of an all-itme great.  If McCoy can complete passes at a 90 percent rate, maybe these two should take more often.
