Favre and Romo Injured

By Rudy Haynesworth on October 27, 2010

**Down and Out**

Brett Favre has started 291 straight games.  That streak could be in jeopardy when the Vikings go to Foxboro to face the Patriots on Sunday.  He re-aggrevated his ankle and has two stress fractures from a hit he took in a 28-24 Sunday night loss to the Packers.  The Vikings are now 2-4 and Favre has multiple injuries including tendonitis in his elbow.  The 41 year old quarterback said, “I’m no spring chicken.  I can’t heal like I used to.”

On Monday Night “America’s Team” the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Giants 41-35.  This made the Cowboys record 1-5.  To add injury to insult, quarterback Tony Romo left the game after four offensive series with what was later discovered to be a broken left collarbone.  His replacement 14 year veteran Jon Kitna brought Dallas back within a touchdown throwing for 187 yards, but the Cowboys blew an early 10-0 lead resulting from two 1st quarter Eli Manning interceptions.  Rookie reciever Dez Bryant also returned his second kickoff for a touchdown this season.

Romo’s shoulder injury turned out to be inoperable.  He will be out at least 6-8 weeks to let it heal.  Favre had already been considering sitting out a couple games to rest his wounds.  Now, the NFL’s iron man may miss his first game in almost 18 years (his streak is an adult).  I would expect to see Favre on the field and Romo will be out at least until December, but both of these teams may already be out the playoff race.

Maybe it's time to sit down Brett
