It’s a safety, safety, safety world!

"I can still lay the wood, just ask Clinton Portis, you gonna miss me St. Louis"

With the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) set to expire on March 3, NFL teams are starting cut their ties with players who are caring hefty contracts. The past few days teams such as the Colts and Rams have released high profile safeties such as Bob Sanders and O.J. Atogwe. The Falcons also released S Erik Coleman (who just recently signed with the Lions) and the Texans released S Eugene Wilson. Teams who need a saftey need to scoop one of these players up. Atogwe is probably the best safety out the group. Atogwe posted 73 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions in 2010.

Sanders can be a solid player when healthy but he has only played in 9 games over the past three years. Sanders is a ferocious hitter and can tackle.

Wilson, at this point in his career can add solid depth, but is not by any means a starter (just ask the Texans fans).

Coleman can add good depth to the Lions secondary that needs all the help it can get.
