Donovan McNabb and Matt Hasselbeck will no longer play for the Redskins and Seahawks. McNabb will be traded to the Vikings for reportedly two 6th round picks in the next two drafts. Hasselbeck agreed to a multi-year deal with the Titans. Subsequently, Tavares Jackson went to the Seahawks creating the need for McNabb. The interesting part about McNabb to the Vikings and Hasselbeck in Tennessee is that both teams just drafted 1st round rookie QBs.
The retirement of Kerry Collins forced Tennessee to seek a veteran quarterback with the expected release of Vince Young. The Titans drafted Jay Locker out of Washington 8th overall, but that was considered high for a quarterback that was at best considered the 3rd best at his position in this class. McNabb would go to the Vikings as a veteran to be in place until Christian Ponder is ready. McNabb only threw 14 TDs last season (low since his rookie year throwing 8). But, both had down years as Hasselbeck threw for only 12 TDs and 17 ints last season. Both Hasselbeck and McNabb are savvy veterans and don’t look for them to turn the reigns over without a fight.
Don’t forget about Kevin Kolb. A deal has been reported with Arizona that would send Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2nd round pick to Philadelphia. The deal is going to get done. That would be the reason Kolb has been working out with Arizona receiver Larry Fitzgerald even before the CBA was completed.
Alot of players have resigned with their respective teams already. Santonio Holmes was the biggest name in free agency at receiver. He resigned today with the Jets for $50 million over 5 years (24 mill guaranteed). Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson (two players named in Brady vs. NFL) signed tenders with their teams. Santonio Holmes will still be a Redskin and DeAngelo Williams will play with Cam Newton in Carolina. Linebacker Charles Johnson will also be returning Carolina.
One last deal that is being reported to be in the works is Kyle Orton to the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos already traded receiver Jabar Gaffney to the Redskins for defensive lineman Jeremy Jarmon. Also, gaurd Robert Gallery will sign a three year deal with Seattle.
