McNabb Gets Paid; Vick Goes Off

By Rudy Haynesworth on November 16, 2010

**Real Class**

Yesterday two friends had a great day.  Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick faced off against each other in a Monday Night showdown that featured two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the National Football League.  Earlier in the day, McNabb signed a five year $78 million contract extension with the Washington Redskins.  The deal included $40 million in guaranteed money.

In the game, Vick made headlines by being responsible for 6 TDs.  He threw for 4, and ran for another 2.  The Eagles bested Washington at Fed Ex Field 59-28.  At halftime the score was 45-14.  The Eagles pounded the Redskins into submission splitting the season series 1-1.  Vick finnished the game 20-28 passing with 80 rushing yards on 8 carries.

DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, and running back LeSean McCoy each had a receiving touchdown.  Even better, for the Eagles ex-Brown Jerome Harrison ran for 109 yards on 11 carries.  With this kind of balance and offensive explosion, Philadelphia has to be considered amongst the top teams in the league with a record of 6-3.

McNabb did throw for 295 yards in the losing effort, but also threw 3 interceptions including 2 to Dimitri Patterson who returned one 40 yards for a touchdown.  Amongst speculation that he might not return to the Redskins next year, his new deal ensures that he will almost certainly finnish his career in Washington.

After the game, as always, McNabb was all class.  Last year, he and Vick played together for the Eagles and McNabb mentioned that he had mentored Vick and had known him since he was a senior in high school in Virginia.  McNabb displayed his happiness for Vick’s success in the post game press conference.  Vick said, “I’ve had a lot of great games in my day.”  But, he went on to say this may have been his best.

Two Great QBs
