R.I.P. Stan Jones and Jarvis Williams

Hall of Fame lineman, Stan Jones, 78, passed away May 21. He had complications from heart disease and skin cancer. Jones was an all-American at the University of Maryland and an lineman with the Chicago Bears. He played 13 years in the National Football League with the Bears, first as a phenom offensive guard and later as a defensive tackle on the Bears’ 1963 NFL championship team.

Former defensive back for the Miami Dolphins and Giants, Jarvis Williams died Tuesday night in north Florida at the age of 45. Williams cause of death was an acute asthma attack. Williams was named to Florida’s All-Century team in 1999 after playing in Gainesville from 1984-87, recording 239 tackles and 10 interceptions. He was later inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Williams was a starter at safety for the Dolphins from 1989-93, then later finished his NFL career with the Giants.
