Raiders To Release QB JaMarcus Russell: It's About Time

By Dominique Wise on April 28, 2010

"I prefer mink anyway over any NFL Jersey"

Al Davis is having a “Commitment To Excellence” off-season. First off he gets rid of free agent busts WR Javon Walker and Gerard Warren. Then heading into draft weekend the consensus mock draft pick for the Raiders first round pick was suppose to be combine workout warrior OT Bruce Campbell. But Mr. Davis stayed patient and took Campbell in the fourth round. Mr. Davis said this year that the Raiders needed to draft for need. The Raiders selected stud linebacker Rolondo McClain in the first round. McClain had a brilliant college career and will be a beast at MLB in the NFL for years to come.

But what made it such a successful draft weekend for the Raiders was trading a future 2012 draft pick for QB Jason Campbell. Campbell is a solid NFL quarterback and is a big upgrade over JaMarcus Russell. Campbell has a good arm and doesn’t make many mistakes. The main problem with Russell is his work ethic and the Raiders have had enough. Russell seems to care more about what the NFL provides and not for the love of football. He was was giving more than enough opportunities, but just didn’t seem to take football serious. He has not lived up to his $32 million guaranteed he received in 2007. To be a franchise QB requires leadership and a strong work ethic, not gaining 20 plus pounds during the regular season and not spending more time at a buffet then in the film room! I guarantee when or if he runs out of money hes gonna be hollering “I learned my lesson, give me another chance”. Sorry Russell your time in the NFL is over!

Also: The best solution for him is to take the pay cut and just keep earning a piece of a check vs. getting cut and earning NOTHING.

At least as a no. 2 or 3 QB he can work hard to prove himself worthy of another shot to anothe rteam.

If not, he definitely proves he definitely nothing but a lazy slacker just trying to sponge up a paycheck.

His lazy ass needs counseling. All that money and still no drive! sad!
