Raiders trade for former Bengals QB Carson Palmer

By Dominique Wise on October 18, 2011

Welcome to Oakland!

The Raiders new motto is “Just Win Now Baby”, is clearly what the Oakland Raiders are thinking when they made a trade with the Bengals for former first round QB Carson Palmer. The Raiders are 4-2 through six games and believe that Palmer will help get them to the playoffs this year and is an upgrade over Raiders backup QB Kyle Boller. To acquire Palmer through via trade the Raiders new they had to give up some draft picks but two first rounders one in 2012 and one in 2013.

How do I feel about this trade? Only time will tell how this deal will affect both organizations. I do believe Palmer is an upgrade over Jason Campbell. Palmer has better accuracy and gets the ball out quicker than Campbell. I know Palmer isn’t mobile like Campbell, but the Raiders offensive line has been protecting well. The Raiders have a strong running game that will help Palmer and have a promising group of young talented WR’s that keep their mouth shut and don’t whine.

On the otherhand the Bengals get to add more quality depth at key positions on their team and are setting theirselves up to be competitive in the AFC North division for a years to come. Good trade for both teams!
