The NFL had the rookie symposium in place next month. It is usually mandatory for all NFL rookies with a fine of up to $75,000. The symposium has taken place for the last 15 years.
The Syposium is a good learning experience for incoming NFL players. It warns them of the danger of their celebrity and in most cases new found wealth and also attempts to educate them about being professionals even after their football careers. The event also gives a lot of players a chance to meet each other that may not have otherwise.
This is just another ominous sign in this 70 day work stoppage and lockout. This is the first league-wide event to be cancelled and it looks like there may be more.
