Seattle Seahawks Offseason Checklist: A USC Reunion?

By Dominique Wise on March 6, 2011

Caroll's guys in college and now maybe with him in Seattle!

Things to do this summer for the Seahawks:

1. Since this is Pete Carroll’s team shouldn’t he go get his players? We all know that the QB position is the most important position on a team, so I say the Seahawks should trade for QB Carson Palmer. Palmer is younger but is a better QB than current Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck. Plus he played for Pete Carroll at USC. Matt Leinhart would help as well, the Seahawks should contact the Texans and see if they can get him in a late round trade. Also we can’t forget about Carroll’s favorite USC player Reggie Bush, Carroll woul love to have him in an explosive backfield that features Leon Washington and  Marshawn Lynch. Think of the damage Bush and Washington can do together on special teams.

2. Find a true CB in free agency or the NFL Draft. CB’s Kelly Jennings and Marcus Trufant have struggled mightily for this team the past couple of years.

3. Sign a free agent WR such as a Terrell Owens or Steve Smith. The Seahawks have some talent at the WR position, the problem is that their WR’s are raw and young. Mike Williams was solid last season, but isn’t consistent and doesn’t stretch the field. Golden Tate wasn’t too golden on the field with just 21 catches.

4. Sign G Robert Gallery. Ex Raiders head coach Tom Cable is the Seahawks offensive line coach and bringing a veteran solid  in Gallery would immediately upgrade which is a weak position on this team. G Tyler Polumbus struggled last season opening up holes for the Seahawks RB’s.

A Cable and Gallery reunion in Seattle could happen in 2011!

5. Trade and get some value for trouble OLB Leroy Hill. Hill was a solid LB for the Seahwaks before injuries and off the field issues ruin his last two seasons in Seattle. LB David Hawthorne has been a stud for the Seahawks the last two seasons. He has been a tackling machine and is great in team pursuit. He has had two straight 100 plus tackle seasons.

6. Don’t franchise DT Brandon Mebane. Mebane was solid last season, not spectacular. He is a big physical run stuffer, but last season didn’t make enough plays. This team has holes everywhere so i say let him go into free agency and draft a young DT. This upcoming NFL Draft is filled with defensive line talent.
