The Situation:
The Seahawks are currently 4-7. The Seahawks have been so inconsistent on both sides of the ball this season. Injuries have hit this team hard at key positions, but every team has had to deal with injuries. Bottom line is that this team will not make the playoffs this year and head coach Pete Carroll needs to find out which players will continue to play hard for him for the next few games.
What has gone right in 2011?:
There have been some bright spots for the Seahawks in 2011. The defense has played hard all season. DE Chris Clemons leads the team in sacks with 8 through 12 games. MLB David Hawthorne has had a great season and is a tackling machine. Hawthorne plays hard every play. Rookie CB Richard Sherman has been solid as well. He has good instincts and is a better tackler than CB Marcus Trufant who probably will be released after this season due to age and ineffectiveness.
On offense undrafted rookie WR Doug Baldwin has played well and leads the team in receiving yards. He has been the teams most consistent WR. RB Marshawn Lynch has been solid running the football.
What has gone wrong in 2011?:
What has gone wrong with the Seattle Seahawks in 2011? The answer is Tavaris “Playground Football” Jackson. Jackson’s play has been so erratic this season. Through 12 games Jackson has 9 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Jackson problem is that he doesn’t trust his arm and instincts. Jackson’s style of play is run first then pass. He is not a starting NFL QB.
The Seahawks offense has had a lot of injuries. TE Zach Miller and WR Sidney Rice were the Seahawks top free agent acquisition. Miller has yet to produce and only has 15 catches and no touchdowns through 12 games this season. Miller has missed a few games due to injury. Rice has been plagued by injuries all season which was has been the knock on him all throughout his career.
The Solution for 2012:
In order for this team to be able to compete in the near future with the 49ers, this team needs a franchise QB. I knew the Seahawks 2011 season was doomed when they made Tavaris Jackson their starting QB. This team has some solid pieces on offense at the RB, WR and TE position. The offensive line has been inconsistent due to injuries as well. The Seahawks need to draft or sign players who can stay healthy.
