Tiki Barber coming out of retirement: Um why or does anyone care?

By Dominique Wise on March 8, 2011

He's back, but does anyone really care?

Former New York Giants RB Tiki Barber, has filed papers to come out of retirement his agent announced on Tuesday. But why? One two words for you, he’s broke. Barber decided to leave the NFL and the Giants when he had two years left on his Giants contract when he retired. He felt it was his time to leave the NFL game on top (he is the Giants all-time leading rusher and fumbler) and at an early age, but we all know the main reason was because of his beef with Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Giants QB Eli Manning.

Will Tiki’s comeback be with the Giants? Um, no, Giants team spokesman Pat Hanlon said in a statement, “We wish Tiki nothing but the best, and when we are able to make the transaction, we will release him from our reserve/retired list.” Its gonna be a tough road for Tiki, well for starters he hasn’t played since 2006, he is about to be 36 years old and he left the game in an cocky arrogant kind of way and he felt that there woul be numerous opportunities for him outside football. Mr. Barber had been a correspondent for “The Today Show” and “Sunday Night Football” on NBC before the network did not renew his contract. Since then he has been doing video work for Yahoo! Sports. Plus Tiki went through a rough expensive divorce where his ex-wife pretty much took almost everything and financially he has been struggling to make what was once was a promising celebrity lifestyle. So Mr. Barber I ask you is your comeback for the love of the game of football or for what the game of football provides for you?
