Fans football is back. What isn’t great to watch football this past weekend? I sure was glued to the tv or the NFL scoreboard. Here are some observations I witnessed and some predictions I will make for this upcoming season:
1. Rookie QB’s Jake Locker, Cam Newton, and Ryan Mallet all showed great poise and leadership on the field this past weekend. I think all three QB’s will have a great NFL career.
2. How about them Browns? With a very vanilla offense and no big name receivers, QB Colt McCoy was still very efficient (9-10, 135 yards, touchdown). McCoy didn’t force the ball and took what the defense gave him. Good job Colt, lets see you duplicate the same performance for this upcoming week!
3. Osi who? Osi what? The Giants need to move on and trade DE Osi Umenyiora. Why because DE and second year player Jason Pierre-Paul is on a mission this season and will have a breakout season in 2011. This past weekend he had 2 sacks against the Carolina Panthers.
4. I mean Patriots come on man, hanging 47 points on the Jaguars in preseason, is that really necessary? Patriots head coach Bill Belicheck doesn’t care.
5. Hey Broncos, whose it gonna be at QB? Tim Tebow or Kyle Orton? Oh wait what about Brady Quinn? Quinn was solid throwing for 120 yards and a touchdown.
6. Raider Nation and AFC West fans remember this name, WR Denarius Moore. He is gonna be a playmaker this season for the Raiders. He has been the most impressive player in the Raiders training camp this off-season. He had a solid debut catching 3 passes for 37 yards and had a 57 yard punt return called back due to holding penalty.
7. I’m sorry the Cowboys secondary will be its achilles heel all season. CB Terrence Newman has been out due to a nagging groin injury and CB Mike Jenkins is an over-rater! The QB’s in the NFC East division are going to light up the Cowboys secondary.
8. Bad news already in Broncos camp, newly acquired DE Ty Warren might be done for the season with torn biceps, like my boy Nas says, “Damn Son”!
9. You think WR Brandon Marshall is already a basket case, wait until the third or fourth week of the season when his team will be 0-3 or 0-4 due to the ineffective play at the QB position. QB Chad Henne is not the answer, what a terrible interception he threw to Falcons CB Brent Grimes.
10. Are you ready for week 2 of preseason? I am!
