Welcome back Cincinnati Bungals! Pathetic!

By Dominique Wise on November 22, 2010

"Man we suck bad, you see I'm already on vacation, who cares about this 2010 football season, ya'll see where i'm at, back in Cali cheering on the Lakers"

The Situation: The 2010 Cincinnati Bengals, or should I say Bungals are a disgrace to watch and are actually pathetic. I would never thought this team would be this bad this year. Before the 2010 season started I was telling all football fans to watch out for this team, this team is legit and have all the pieces to go 12-4 or make it to the AFC Championship game. Uh good job Nique, once again another bad prediction to this unpredictable 2010 season. The 2010 Bengals are 2-8 and probably could go 2-14. Who would of thunk it?

The Problems: First off we have to start with the immobile and inaccurate  QB Carson Palmer.  Palmer is having his worst season as the Bengals starting QB (Completion percentage is 60.9) Palmer has thrown for 2,625 yards and has 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Now Bengals fans remember this date on 12/29/2005 Palmer signed a six-year, $118.75 million contract extension through 2014. That’s a lot of money given to a player who hasn’t led this team to the AFC Championship game or Super Bowl. Also keep in mind that this 2010 Bengals team is the most talented team in the Palmer era. So why is Palmer having one of his worst years with probably his best teams? Two words for you, decision making! Palmer needs to take a class or two on decision making somewhere at a local Cincinnati community college or maybe University of Cincinnati or Xavier. I thought quarterbacks watch game films. Maybe Palmer doesn’t or skips film study. Who knows, all I know and Bengals fans and players know that Palmer is struggling mightily with his decision making, how can a $100 million dollar quarterback struggle so bad with decision making.

Other problems with this team is the offensive line. Its not too early to say that T Andre Smith is a bust, he is so far, he’s too soft. He doesn’t play with a mean streak. Guards Bobbie Williams and Nate Livings are average and inconsistent, why do you think Palmer has been sacked so much. C Kyle Cook isn’t strong at the center of attack. LT Andrew Whitworth is decent. But collectively this group and mixed in with busty bust Smith this is a bad group.

On the defensive line there are too many talented underachievers. Tank Johnson is solid DT but shouldn’t be playing on first down. Johnson is a better pass rusher than run stopper. DT Pat Sims and Domata Peko should play on first down rather than Johnson. Both players excel at stopping the run and are space eaters. I think DE/OLB’s Michael Johnson and Carlos Dunlap are 3rd down permanent pass rushers. Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer has struggled with play calling this season. There have been times where Dunlap has lined up against TE’s and been asked to cover them. What in the @#$%? That is so dumb so he could look dumb on film by falling down or get beat in coverage for a critical first down or possibly touchdown. Maybe it might be time to re-evaluate Mike Zimmer.

The Bengals pass rush this season has been non-existent especially with overraters like Robert Geathers starting when he should be "Dropped Off"

The Solution: Bungals, oh my bad I mean Bengals, first thing you need to do is draft a quarterback in the first or second round of next year’s draft. Palmer is playing like he is Brett Farve, old and erratic. How does a a $100 million dollar quarterback look so confused when he is only 31, maybe Palmer still can’t shake the KimoVon Oelhoffen side effect. Second, the Bengals need to draft a tackle and guard. Bengals need to cut overpaid and overrated DE’s Robert Geathers and Antwan Odom. The safety position needs some youth and speed.

"Come on Carson, I know you aren't blaming me for your recent struggles, are you?"
