What is this Collusion claim I keep hearing about?

By Alisha Boykin on January 19, 2011

About a week ago the NFL players union filed a claim against NFL owners in part of negotiating for a new collective bargaining agreement.  Apparently team owners improperly conspired to restrict players’ salaries in the 2010 offseason.  It’s unknown which teams and players are cited in the case but the allegations center on the lack of activity in restricted free agency last year.  In this litigation the union will have to prove that owners conspired to keep salaries low.

Now the claim has been dismissed by the players union; Commissioner Roger Goodell feels this claim cannot be handled through litigation and it can be negotiated.  Don’t we just love that about Goodell? No matter what the situation is he is always on top of it, from concussions to fines and now legal issues with the players’ union vs. the owners and franchise.  Obviously he’s doing something right because wants Goodell say’s the situation is being contained…it literally is with visual proof.
