Who knew Chad Ochocinco was such a sweet heart!

By Alisha Boykin on May 30, 2010

Ochocinco and Rubin St. Hilaire Jr.

Cincinnati Bengal’s, home of the Orange and Black, A.K.A (remember A.K.A. and B.K.A.? LOL!) my favorite team, receiver Chad Ochocinco touched the hearts of many and one special individual in particular.

There was a third annual gala fundraiser for the Children Mending Hearts organization in Hollywood, CA this weekend and one particular special Nine-year-old name Ruben St. Hilaire, Jr., who lives with this mother in a homeless shelter (honey I know what it’s like…trust) in New York City, received an autographed jersey from Ochocinco after sending a true letter form the heart.

Rubin wanted to attend a football camp which he was able to do, which was donated by Deion Sanders, but he also wanted to meet his all-time favorite football player Chad Ochocinco.  Attending the gala Ruben was able to read his letter out loud, which I copied 1/2 of the letter below:

{ Mr. Johnson, you really make me happy. One of my goals in my future life is to be just like you when I grow up. I wonder who was your role model when you were little? I have three role model(s) in my life that’s my mom, Mr. President Barack Obama and my favorite football player Mr. Chad Johnson. To me you are the best football player in the NFL. May God bless you and your family happy holidays.}

and tell everyone how much he loves Ochocinco.  The best has yet to come…not only did Ochocinco personally attend the gala; he gave Rubin his certification of acceptance to the camp, it was also Rubin’s birthday, so Ochocinco had everyone sing happy birthday to him and he received an autographed jersey.

That was truly an emotive night for Rubin and I’m sure for Ochocinco, all I have to say is: Chad, congratulations for sharing your heart, you not only touched him with a lifetime of encouragement; you also touched the people around you!
